During college, I lived in Thailand as a volunteer, where I learned Thai and developed a deep appreciation for Thailand's culture and people. When I was preparing to move to Thailand, I was advised that I would need to bring my own tampons if I wanted them, as they weren't widely available. Once there, I was glad to have brought a suitcase full of tampons with me, since I rarely saw them in stores, and I never saw applicator tampons (the most popular kind here in the U.S.)

I was surprised—why weren’t Thai women using tampons when they offer so many advantages over pads? In the years since, I've found that tampons are still not well-known in Thailand, but also that many women face misconceptions or uncertainty about their use. Expats in Thailand still struggle to find quality tampons like they're used to from abroad.

This inspired me to create Evi Mae, to provide high-quality and eco-friendly tampons for women in Thailand, and to become the "Tampon Fairy," to use social media to educate and break down myths about tampons.
